In Art we glimpse the secret self

I am a sculptor/ visual artist based in the UK and exhibiting nationally and Internationally. I work in clay, plaster, metal, resin, cement, bronze, sand, snow and ice as both a carver and modeller. I also create mixed media pieces using paint, inks, text and found objects in combination with my sculpted forms. My work is a life-long exploration and I am currently inspired by nature, folklore, evolution, magic, symbolism, mythology, poetry, dreams, imaginary landscapes, spirituality and the wild signs that connect the ancient with the everyday.

I have a degree in Fine Art Sculpture from Wimbledon School of Art and a two year post graduate training in traditional figurative sculpture from the Frink School of Sculpture. I have also spent several years working as a propmaker and scenic artist for TV, theatre and film before setting up my own sculpting practice in 2003.

For 7 years I worked under the alias ‘Katarina Rose’ as well as creating figurative work under my own name. In 2020 I began to combine the two art practices and my current work is a fusion of these two, once disparate, bodies of work. I am motivated by what inspires, drives, aligns, repels and connects us all to one another and to the natural world.
